With whom? no players in the regular servers lol
Dedicated servers
Game is in alpha, I don’t know if these features are even planned at this moment, especially with the nexon partnership.
I’m not VIP just in case
So if there is some more infos why not share it with us?

There isn’t more information available. It’s still unknown what’s going to happen.
Ok thx for the answer.
That can be really cool to give us some freedom on this side, and not been forced to get an expensive server via Nexon
Why not just tell the people there is not going to be a dedicated server you can download and install on your side?
If any you can rent it from Nexon or Destiny.
Because they don’t know if this is the case or not.
SD probably understand the importance of people being able to run their own servers. However, with a free-to-play game which has a payment system in place, it’s difficult to work out. If people get their hands on the server code, they could exploit it and unlock all available skins/weapons/whatever Nexon/SD have to sell to make this game profitable. That’s probably why there is no straight answer right now, because they genuinely haven’t figured out a way to make this work yet.
They know they are not going to give you the serverside software. So much should be really obvious.
What I mean is they’re probably trying to figure out a solution just now to allow people to install their own servers without putting the gamecode at risk.
Pretty much this. Maybe we will see homehosted servers, but than they will be unranked and who’s going to play on unranked servers with a F2P game, where you can unlock things if you play on ranked servers?
Why would they search for a solution if they can earn money with not finding a solution. Only a small % of players cares about servers, the majority doesn’t give a **** (this means it will be a low low low low priority on their list).
Of course we can only dream about linux server files, just like we did with Brink.
Why do we have to assume that an F2P game can’t have dedicated servers? TF2 does it and the only server-side unlocks I’ve ever seen are paints and “unusual” effects for cosmetic items (hats and miscs). You can visually modify stuff you already have in your backpack, but you won’t have access to things you don’t own already because the content of you backpack is always controlled by a Valve item server, even on a 3rd party dedicated server. That’s why you can also trade items no matter where you are and receive item drops on non-Valve servers. And all your stats are tracked properly, including your “strange” weapons which keep count of specific kill types (and are the closest thing to “ranks” in TF2).
The one side effect is that when a server loose communication with the Valve item server, or the item server goes down, you loose access to your backpack so you can only use the default weapons and your characters revert to their default look. It’s annoying but rare enough and it’s actually refreshing once in a while to play “vanilla”.
They can’t earn money from dedicated servers unless they rent the license for it (which should obviously be cheaper than renting a pre-packaged server). But even if they would let us have the license for free, it’s still not a bad investment because hosting servers is an expense that doesn’t bring in any revenues. What brings revenues is people getting invested enough in the game to buy the goodies, doesn’t matter where they play.
I’m sure it’s actually more profitable for Nexon and SD to have other people provide part of the support infrastructure: less direct expenses to accommodate the same player base.
I guess it’s cheaper for them to rent servers through licences than the security threats / costs that home hosted servers bring. What if someone cracks the code and everyone can play on their server with all the unlocks.
Valve of course did the perfect thing, I would love to see it, but I would be surprised if SD manage to do something like that.
Anyway there are some many things that still have to be added to the game that are more important than this issue, so I doubt we will see it anytime soon.
There’s a demand for having our own servers so I’m confident SD will do their best to try to accommodate that demand. It’s pretty important to people who are asking for it, important to the point it’s a make or break for some people. If it’s a break, these people will leave the game and not play. SD will lose customers, thus not make the money they could’ve made if they did find a solution.
They’ve put a lot of time into making this game competitively viable too, and since self-hosted servers are pretty much instrumental to competitive games (excluding SC2, Dota 2 & LoL), I can’t imagine them letting this slip.

who knows … the cloud is the new developers toy and they want to use it for game servers. That’s not bad in the idea, that’s really versatile, but I still believe in dedicated servers as a meeting point for a community, and without this I don’t know how we can build a solid one. I speak for the pub part of the game, but that’s really convenient for match to.
With matchmaking more or less confirmed, I assume that also means that they will be using an on demand allocation of official servers, hosted by SD or their partners.
If they choose to support both matchmaking and a traditional server browser, it might make sense to allow for privately hosted servers as well. That would add more workload and can create problems for both SD and the players, though. For example, players can get a poor impression of the game from joining games hosted on underspecced servers with poor performance, or weird mods that significantly change gameplay. I have personally witnessed this causing a lot of problems for a game I previously played, including it receiving several nasty reviews because the reviewers happened to join laggy or modded servers. If private servers are allowed, there should be a clear distinction between official servers and private servers (join game/join custom game perhaps), to make sure that the players are aware that the server they are joining is privately hosted and may not be representative of intended gameplay.
