for what it’s worth…
Dedicated server rental
Notice she said private and dedicated (which we already have), but avoided saying you’ll be able to host your own, which is what we’re really talking about here.
To devs/publishers: dedicated = not peer2peer
To players: dedicated = host our own

and what if a person is both - a player and a dev/publisher. are we to see some kind of inner struggle within him in this regard?
actually, dedicated means not peer to peer only
any self hosted servers would have to be full on basic with no earning capabilities while somehow allowing merc choice, Probably only gonna happen for “Hosted Events”
but the server we play on are still hosted by multiplay; How is there a difference when SD or some user is administrating the server. There could be 2 choices ranked (like normal public server) and unranked servers (server for private matches, pcw). Even if every Merc/weapon unlock option, dont see any problem. Only giving basic parameters, so there cant be toyed with it.
When this isnt possible, there wont be a esportesque about this game, maybe there will be some online tournaments and thats it. I mean actually there is no need to push esport from the side of publisher at all. We only need the basic tools to set up matches, and tournaments by ourselves.
Being xxxxxly interested in esport doesnt mean anything if WE players cant influence directly community building (with providing servers).
Otherwise if things are outside of our hands, solely in the hands of Nexon, enslaved to always passively play on their online servers, well then it might be a fun public game for a while but there wont be any sustain/backup from the side of community. If something goes wrong the community is probably more sensible. And what do you do if you unlocked everything in the game?
If DB doesnt follow similar philosophy which I tried to explain, then we know where the train is heading. I think this is an fundamental part that must be resolved.
Yep agree with that !
But I ask for some news from the dev to know how they see the thing, and still no answer since 2 years …
Another very bad feeling …
Will the new year start with a great update with good news ? or maybe the rats will leave the ship for good ?
e-sports what a freakin laugh
I shoot real guns
sorry, there are some players here I respect, but this e-sports garbage pisses me off
it is about the gaming culture, participating lan events, having the ability hosting lan events, create tournaments. Get some local/online tournaments going. This hasnt anything to do with the term esport, its also about the independence what can make this game attractive. There isnt a better game than one which can be played whenever and wherever you want. Lately “always online” policy actually made gaming going backwards.
The best times I had playing on lan together with friends, thats where the real fun comes from.
Thats why cs is still best shooter hands down, got the hitreg (server side + lan support). CS isnt gigantic but still kind of selfsustainable compared to all the other games.
thanks Tast1c, well put
I get that part, it’s the “e-sports fixes all” that rankles me

+1000
ability to independently make gaming events (be that online or LAN) - like cups, showmatches etc is what makes a PC game a thing worth spending my time.
ETQW was ETQW only because of cups.
i am not sure about Nexon, but DDestiny is going to make LAN events them selves as a part of advertisement company.
Cooller as a long time LAN attender in quake is very pro-LAN person, and since he is a community manager i have high hopes with that.

if we are not able to run our own ded servers the train will end like the one on trainyard
Please have ranked servers ONLY for ladder play (like in CS:GO), where you get a rankingnumber.
All other gametypes should be statsfree:
- so people could focus on other things than stats
- so custom server arent killed by stats servers / ranked servers.
If custom servers and non-ladder servers are both statsfree, then finally the custom servers can survive, and we can have a map-pool, that people actually like*.
- = If a game has 10 maps, usually 3 of those are generally considered bad, and to be able to remove those from the map-pool, on a custom server, is blessing. <3
And if bad cases, 7-8 maps of 10 are bad, and then only 2 are played, and people are happy. 1 good map is worth more than 10 bad ones.
I’d like to see integration between server rental and a phone app.
Would be cool to see live stats, players, and chats of your (or another person’s) server from your Android or iPhone. Clan management and Echo data would be cool features for a phone app as well. Schedule matches with another clan, and reserve a time on your server for the match.
I see this is all about dedicated server rental. Are there also people on this forum familiar with their own server on a dedicated tariff like this one? I’m asking because I’ve got some questions regarding having your own dedicated server.
