now it says releasing on the 23rd…

I am disappoint, SD…very disappoint…

You must be new here.

I was upset when they couldn’t stick to their whole merc every 6-8 weeks promise. Then again I wasn’t super sticking it to them either.

That promise was met. The pace of releasing mercs was supposed to last by year-end.

Um, no. No it wasn’t. Read below.

of course all this bitching and moaning about “promises” and other useless comments in a BETA TEST will likely just have them quit announcing updates and just drop them as they see fit. no need for them to be called lying crooks because people don’t understand how things work in the real world
Both of you need to stop and get your facts straight, both about about my position AND the fact that Splash Damage as a corporation made a public promise they failed to upkeep, and whether or not I forgive them for it doesn’t change that it looks bad that they failed. @Nail I have never called them lying crooks and I completely understand the way things work. In fact that’s the very reason I brought it up. Them failing to meet that promise while trying to get public grace as they reach their release date isn’t doing them any favors when people remember. I’m 100% sure that them saying the 22nd was a typo anyway, as SD afaik has never updated on a Monday since going into Beta. Regardless of what they did fail to complete, I’m very content with what they’ve managed to deliver. Note my original message said I WAS upset, and that I wasn’t sticking it to them either though. Now who needs to understand English, Hrmm?

Now to set you straight, @FalC_16 -
Splash Damage announced shortly after their release of TURTLE that they’d be releasing a new merc with a new primary AND a new secondary OR melee weapon starting with the release date of turtle, EVERY 6-7 weeks until the year ends. And going at the MAXIMUM 7 weeks time period from the release of JAVELIN there were another 19 weeks LEFT in the year of 2017. Meaning a minimum of 2 more mercs HAD to be met for their promise to be met. They only released Guardian after Javelin. That’s one merc. And if we go by 6 weeks - They should have had 3. That promise was not met, from any possible angle you can claim. Period. Nor do I care at this point, it’s everyone else looking at this game that will remember and care.

Now let’s get one last thing in check, Hunter WAS the merc they were going to be releasing by the end of last year to keep that promise. And now it’s going to be February and we still don’t have him. AND he’s being counted as one of their 4 merc promise for this year.
I’m glad they’re taking their time, and I feel they absolutely can get 4 mercs out this year and I even feel it might be a bit much… Hunter has been in development for a rather large time considering the speed SD has been moving at, and though I don’t doubt SD’s ability to deliver him within this quarter or the rest of the mercs this year. IF they fail it will LOOK BAD REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE THINK.

my comments were to the general population of the forum, not you personally

shooting at targets doesn’t always mean you’ll hit them

Splash Damage may decide to just stop being forward with announcements if people hold their failed promises against them, but in that regard they’re at a lose lose situation. Whether or not your original comment was aimed at me or others, or your reading comprehension comments from other threads which I only used to point out that sometimes you don’t read either, the only reason I made my statements is because it’s pretty much the only big promise SD has publicly made while on the road in the last year. People tend to remember stuff like that, even if it’s not the best investment of money to make characters at the moment.

Anyway, targets should be hit, and I feel they likely will be.

@Xenithos

Considering the huge amount of rework they needed from all the “OP OP OP OP OP OP” spewing after Javelin’s release and the recent kickback from the community over the last few balance updates, the kickback from Castle’s release, the kickback from the Dome rework, and the kickback from the events, not to mention the kickback after Guardian’s release (namely complaints of “THERE’S TOO MANY MERCS IN GAME WE DON’T WANT NEW CONTENT WE WANT YOU TO FIX THE GAME”), I think it’s pretty understandable that they couldn’t keep to an every 6 - 8 weeks schedule for new mercs.

They couldn’t possibly predict such a huge amount of rework required. Sure they probably knew tweaks were needed but they basically got sent back to the drawing board for Javelin and how they give rewards in events.

Does it even matter any more

Nothing Matters.
its just a virtual masterbation program so you feel good about yourself dominating other people in a game of slapstick chess where most of the player dont even know how to move the pieces to play the game…

The amount of truth in that statement is kind of scary.

We kind of strolled away from the original subject, so I’m going to close this.

@Xenithos the subject about SD and promises can be kind of interesting. Maybe you should make it an actual thread if you wish to.
