Why cant they just keep the currenct trade system in game and add the previous system in game so you could choose which system you want to use…
Personally i liked the old system and hate everything about the new system(new currency, craft kits, lack of progression)

Old system or new system, it’s still the same old skins
I used to trade up my cards mainly to keep my inventory clean. Now I recycle them but can’t be bothered to craft anything as I already have decent loadouts for all my mercs. No they are not all Cobalt, but I don’t care for high-end bling. And actually since crafting came along and I had to start weighting the value of one rarity vs another, I’ve realized that I generally prefer Silvers for most mercs. In fact, based on looks alone I would probably use some Default, Lead and Iron skins as well if they were not “augment-challenged”.
That’s why I would really like to see a system that give me the flexibility of combining the looks I like/want with the loadouts I prefer to play, even if it’s expensive credit- or fragment-wise. At least it would be a goal to work towards…
Separation of loadouts and skins like suggested in plethora of places in the past = default skins for whoever loves them (like me!) all day long <3
my idea of a loadout system is one that introduces real crafting. where you actually create your own unique card!
it too requires the sepperation of loadouts and skins (which is the beast idea anyways) but let me explain.
right now many EXISTING skins are de facto lost because unused. eventhough they are nice. i mean everything under bronze. why?!
because you have this silly “perk” system. i understand the idea behind it. but it doesn’t work. there is no progression from lead to iron to bronze. none at all. because bronze is already so damn cheap and easy to get. it’s like selling a hamburger for 95 cents and a cheeseburger for 99 cents. just put the cheese on there already. it’s basically default anyways.
just think of the default skins for mercs and weapons. some are really really nice. but if you want to see the default skinned Blishlok you HAVE TO play the default Phantom. yeah right…
so here is my suggestions:

now here comes the crafting!
you take a BASE CARD that you got from a crate and if you want to, you can add a SKIN to the merc and a SKIN for the WEAPONS. you pay a crafing fee and a new, unique card is crafted.
that way you can have a merc with his/her default look for example but with a blue main gun and a red pistol if you like.
and if you don’t like it anymore and want to use you red pistol skin on some other merc, no problem. there is a recycling system as well!
you pay a recycling fee and get all the used skin cards back. the base card gets destroyed. (that’s to add some concequences appart from just costs).
so basically you would have an inventory where you collect BASE CARDS (rng from crates) and SKIN CARDS (rng from crates or directly from store for the impatient). and you can craft them to unique cards. no more frustration. you get what you want if you slowely collected all the parts necessary.
the best thing about this idea is that you can implement it without destroying any of the existing cards. you would simply regard them as already crafted cards.
it is future prove because you can add new loadout base cards or just skins sepperately without making cards obsolete.
[b]and you can make greater use of already existing content. especially special events content.
i have on CW card which i will never use because the loadout and merc is crap.
now you could drop SKIN CARDS and people would craft them into the cards they actually want to use with loadouts they like[/b]
also monetization!
with a system like that you could easily SELL skins. 4,99$ for a pink skin card. just for giggles. people would buy them! craft their pink fraggers and pink phantoms and be happy.
money for you, satisfaction for the players. win win. it’s so simple. so flexible.
no need to create whole sets of cards just for one tiny event. just drop a christmas tree themed main weapon skin in the store for 2,49$ or a pumking styled halloween secondary weapon skin for 25000 credits and people will customize their cards the way they want.

I have a really cool idea, I just got it at like 3:50 this morning. Kind of a super combo of three ideas, however, explaining why it would work, and all of it’s details wouldn’t FIT here. I’m going to open a thread in General Chat, please, all, READ IT.
Idea for Crafting Cards:
To make Crafting cards more interesting, they should be personal> what I mean by that, each card has six slots (3 Weapons and 3 Augments). How can we achieve that? By adding the idea of free choice and control over the output, which allow the player to compensate for the disappointment in the random result as previously.
The player can only choose 3 slots only and get 3 slots randomly. He can choose what ever he wants for those three slots: Augments Only, Weapons only or Mix of both. of course the player choice should be from the Merc’s Augment and Weapons only and not different choices and you can keep the current monetary system for crafting the same, by doing this you justify the high price. I don’t think this will effect the balance substantially.
Maybe the Devs can do something with this idea
