Obviously lag fix is the no 1 priority.

Dramatically tighten up the accuracy of all the weapons bar the sniper rifles when standing still, crouching and especially moving, the 1st bullet should be near to or at 100% accuracy. Make aiming for the head worthwhile at mid range onwards with 90% of the weapons rather than centre of mass to guarentee a hit.

Having very tight initially accuracy (high recoil is fine so you have to one shot / burst) while on the move would also really help the attacking team on some of those chokepoint objectives where they have to burst through in numbers. As it currently stands as accuracy on the move is so bad there is a massive advantage for the defence who are stationary / crouched / ironsighted behind cover covering the approaches to the objective. This radically slows down the gameplay as the attacking team has to resort to long range sniping against any half decent team, and often results in easy defensive full holds if they have a few medics worth their salt. Perhaps couple increased initial accuracy with a health increase / less weapon damage across the board to offset dying too fast.

[B]- Serverbrowser should have an option to filter bots out

- Melle animation for hitting downed players needs to be fixed, it takes too long, its near impossible to hit someone over then melee them before they have gotten up, and your left doing an animation in the air, also makes gibs tedious

- Hack objectives should either be much quicker to hack or not reversable by engineers, its completely unbalanced, the entire comp croud has now got rules that in matches you cant reverse hacks just because of it

- AR's are all underpowered, hence why pretty much everyone in comp runs with smg's regardless of body size

- revive and buff animations need to go, they take too long and leave you helpless doing a stupid animation, especially the revive
  • camera pull from buffing is bad, often it will flick you in another direction after buffing teammates[/B]

This is a thread about what Splashdamage should change in Brink to make it better.

Cause the thing that i dont understand is why Splashdamage took some elements that worked fine in Enemy Territory and ET:Quakewars and made them worse.

First of all whats up with the controls?
You wount convert us Pc Players playing your Game on a console just by making the controls only playable on a gamepad.
You just make players turn away and play other games when you dont fix that.

One of the best Control examples is the Engineer why is it not possible to select the Weldingtorch like in ET by pressing the Weaponslot to hold it in your hand and pressing the left mousebutton to use it.
No insteed you have to use the contextsensetiv and in my opinion in this game overused use key.

It makes it almost impossible to move while you are reparing something the exact worse controlsceme comes intoplay when youscavage a enemy or try to disguies you.

The same thing i dont understand why its not possible to Mouselook when you are capturing a commandpost? i almost break my fingers cause i must press move left and move right to look around it may work if you play Brink with a Gamepad with two analogsticks but not with mouse and keyboard ;x .

I would also apprichiate it if it would be possible to select the grenade by pressing the weaponslotkey and cooking it with the mousebutton.

Now lets face some Objectivebased things that i am arguieng about cause i dont understand why the attakingteam can pick up the Hydrotank by walking over it and the Defendingteam need to fill up a statusbar by pressing the before mentioned overused usekey to return it that takes way to long and in my opinion there are way to many statusbars you need to fill to complet the most objectives.

Selfbuffing why is it not possible to buff your self like you did it in ET by selecting the specialweaponslot to hold the syringe in the hand and then press the leftmousebutton to use it and why does it take so long to buff your self in Brink as a Medic it takes hours to increase your own health.
And why does Splashdamge removed the Ammo and Medpacks a Medic or Soldier can drop to supply his Teammate’s.
I dont like it that you need to press the use key and need to be near by your mate to automaticly give him supplys it was much better to drop the supply on a specific spot of the map so that your teammates could pic them up.

It would also be nice if there would be a possebilty to disable mousepulsing and sometimes there are to many Icons and Tooltips on the Screen so that you cant see everything.

This are the biggest problems i noticed this far by playing Brink but feel free to add your Problems you have with Brink and Post them here maybe Splashdamage will change it :wink: i hope the change it :<.

Oh i almost forgot why is it not possible to force the maxfps to a specific rate?

I think the biggest thing for me is that the combat just feels somehow ‘off’. People seem harder to kill when they’re incapacitated than when they’re standing, and the same canned animation for falling over gets old incredibly quick.

Beside obvious bug fixes, some things I would like:

-Ingame server browser to use steam server browser if possible. Or atleast add all the same features from it. Currently it isnt the worst I have seen, but it is still pretty bad. (It is strange that so simple thing like this is so hard nowdays. I have not seen proper server browsers after hl and steam. Maybe this has something to do with consoles)

-Unlock some console commands for mp, like that one which removes annoying view effects when taking hit etc.(not 100% sure about this but iirc, console said that this command was blocked in mp) Some people may say that these effects add “realism”, but imo its one of those pointless features in present fps games. “BLOODY SCREEN, SO REAL!”

-Add max_fps command (and no, VSync is not an option)

-Maybe more addons to weapons. Now its kinda limited.

-Slight adjustments to turrets. A bit faster targetting or something, but dont make them like TF2 turrets.

-Feature for custom crosshairs

-Dont nerf hip fire (at least on SMGs which I have been using) :slight_smile:

-Oh and almost forgot. Machine gun nests seem worthless. Slight buff to them but not too much.

When somebody completes a task, he’s the only one who receives XP. I think this is kinda bad, because people who contributet to the win/capturing the objective etc don’t get rewarded.

Make everyone in a certain radius gain XP, when a objective was captured to make sure everyone gets rewarded, instead of only the guy with the right class for the task.

I’ll not go into all the stuff that’s been done to death already, lag and proper fps I think you know about by now.
Note: I’m on PC.

There are too many animations which get you stuck to get it done. Why do I have to keep the F-button pressed to do anything? With 1 finger pressing F all the time movement is limited and it is uncomfortable. A toggle would be much better. Aim at target, hit F to start animation, hit F again to cancel. I have to say I’m not a fan of the contextual stuff at all. Preselecting is just much more comfortable and less limiting. Doesn’t anyone want to strafe right when cooking a nade :rolleyes:
The only advantage I’ve seen to it is that you can drag your heavy after faster players by buffing them at the maximum range.

The serverbrowser: show servernames, not the first 5 characters of a servername. Show serversettings like friendly fire, bots enabled, who’s playing on the server, how many of these are bots etc. Look at the ETQW serverbrowser for some hints.

Some small and easy things:
In some of the customisation menus, there’s popup boxes when hovering over items. They cover the entire playermodel or gunmodel, and you can’t get rid of them unless you go back to the previous page. Customisation without being able to see what you’re doing doesn’t quite work.

Oh, and the game is really good :smiley:

here are my personal suggestions (PC ONLY). i underlined which i think are most important.

gui:
-genreal costumization for gui (including crosshair)
-show/hide certain elements
-show/hide player outlines for friendly/enemy players
-show/hide button hints
-show/hide player names/icons/healthbar
-add optional hitsounds (WOLF ET LIKE)
-remove not able to fire delay between hip firing and switching to ironsight. make switch into ironsight a bit faster.

gameplay:
-remove autofocusing players/objects when interacting
-remove auto follow players on ability use!!!
-remove the movement lock when interacting/reparing objects!!!
-remove hold button down functions when interacting with players or self completely. only button press is enough.
-make interacting with friendly players/objectives more responsive/faster. (sometimes it takes too long for the outlines to draw when i want to revive someone for example)
-increase the activation radius for players/objectives to make interacting easier

balance:
-some maps have to less access points. add 1-2 more routes or other methods to decrease spawn raping
-increase damage by spawn turrets, decrease their reaction time
-decrease effective range for smg’s
-normalize weapon stats in general (some weapons ARE more powreful than others which is VERY bad)

server browser:
-add filter for bots/no bots on server
-add favorite function (or tell me how current system works :slight_smile: )

misc:
-unlock console functions that dont have an unfair impact on gameplay

one suggestion from me would be to open up the maps a little more!! The setting is great in brink but your hardly see any of the setting as you are constantly bogged down in corridors and tight cramped maps which don’t let you see the grand scale of the city. If you have some more open maps then it may actually be useful for people trying to use the sniper rifles. At the moment you are never that far away from people to justify using a sniper rifle. If you get seen people just pepper you with machine gun fire. Kind of ruins the use of the sniper rifle in my opinion. What does everyone else think?? i am interested as this annoys me a lot. Do you guys mind using sniper rifles in confined spaces or would you want some more open maps too??

Well I don’t know if this has been suggested yet (haven’t seen it anywhere and don’t have the time to read this whole thread right now)
But I was surprised it wasn’t in the game by default:
previous chat messages…
When you press t to type something you can’t see the previous messages. It has occurred that I missed what somebody typed and the only way to see it is to look in the console.
Why isn’t it like most other games where you see a brief chat history like the last 5-10 messages when you press t?

You can see all chat in the console, so you can just open it up and check (if you have enabled it through your autoexec.cfg.) Also, in etqw there’s a cvar where you can define the length of time chat messages remain on screen (can’t remember what it is from the top of my head though.)

  • No Bots in MP (or at least: make the server config option more prominent. nobody knows about that old skool possibility)

  • Change body type between games (or change character) whithout having to leave the server

When you have no ammo in your gun a clicking sound when you try to fire would be nice to indicate you have no ammo, the amount of times I’ve got carried away snipping and been clicking my mouse being like wtf, nothings happening!

Ok, first off : Bravo Splash Damage for making such a great game ! allthough i have some minor thing that i wanted to bring to your attention.

  • When going from hipfire to aim down sights it’s not possible to fire… this made me get killed allot so that’s kind of annoying.

  • The light and operative class are too underpowerd.

  • Sometimes the AI shoot’s through the wall, by instance : In the beginning of Container city on the Brigde kinda thing.

  • I saw that on playstation, your friends get a purple colour and allso some kind of squad option. I would love to see this to on pc. ( Edit , it’s allready in-game , Sorry )

  • A menu like the objective wheel, but with character “talk” options. Like saying : “ok” “go” “thanks”. that sort of thing.

  • If possible, It would be much cooler if the characters could run a little faster.

  • The Rhett Ar assault rifle has way less ammo then the other Rifles. I love this gun but the lack of ammo is not fair.

  • Since the last patch the game run’s great. Allthough sometimes word’s or names are really weird ( looks like glitch or some kind of alien language ).

That are actually the only things i can think off that i really want changed.
This game is awesome, make it a little more :wink:

Most have already said everything i want changed.

I am very disheartened from what ive played so far… it is…terrible.

The main gripes for me are the auto-moving and the way heals, ammo etc are done…its crap… let me throw out medpaks ffs like the old ET and QW its a MUCH better way to do it.
Make me have to have SKILL to revive, not just target , press F and it auto gets the throw perfect every time…, again ET and QW did this MUCH better.

Remove all the persistant skill point crap and return it to like ET and QW was where you EARN your rank during the rounds, after the Campaign is over you reset everyones xp+ranks again…that way you dont start off with all the best perks, you earn them every time…

Basically bring back all the stuff from ET and QW you removed or changed in BRINK and this game wont suck so bad.

Sorry but im really annoyed that the game sucks because of things CLEARLY done for consoles…

I actually like the buff system and how it administers it. The auto-pathing it does to reach your target is brilliant.

I had one match on container city. I was a heavy medic. Down in the primary courtyard (where all the action happens) I couldn’t reach a guy to buff him, but I could still see the X Prompt. So I held it, and my heavy guy takes off at twice his speed runs through several enemies up the ramp around the corner and to the guy to buff him in the nick of time. It was pretty awesome.
