1.8 GB ‘maintenance’
you guys need patch notes … we need patch notes.
I believe this will be a content patch that MissMurder has been talking about. ~ At least I hope it is.
Well it could but don’t have to. It also depends on the “Update”-Strategy they use.
If they ‘inject’ changed or added structures with an Updateclient to existing files, it would be fast.
But if they have to replace the whole files (wich is common nowadays just because most people are capable of fast internetconnections) it takes for example about 500MB to add or change or even remove 1 sound (maybe not remove, because mostly they delete something like that just from loadrotation so it will stay but untouches as Prototype Maps do for ex.
If its about Textures it will need easy 1GB because of the 914.324MB file.
So it’s matter of luck if there is no Changelog, i also haven’t checked and backed up to see whats changing let’s be honest - it looks much like a Patch with maybe Merc Update. They should re-rotate the Free Mercs LOL

They use the whole file replacement method. Lots of gripe about it.
Sparks has been added to the game files and is playable in offline mode, didn’t notice any other changes at first glance.
God, why. Why have we gone backwards? Games 10+ years ago broke down resources into tiny bits why do devs insist on packaging them in up to 1gb container files these days. The only excuse I’d accept is security to protect against mods/cheats. But even then there have to be other ways, like hash checking.
Well either way, guess I better check and see if I can get sparks. She honestly looks like a medic I’d actually ENJOY playing.
MissMurder has mentioned some bugfixes in forum posts. More details to come later on the specifics.
I hope they work on the performance… one day i can get stable FPS on 8vs8 and one day later i drop to 40 or below…
giant laser gun that can heal friendlies its my dream come true… on the side note i alreadly see people sniping vasilis with the heal gun
Yes the Filereplacement is the “better” choise when it goes down to security. Other Games just got the absolutely minimal amount of files so a 4 gig Game uses a 3.8Gig File to store everything. Because the first barrier is to access the File itself and then browse for files you “need”. After that you have to change them. And now the worst parts - repack them. Thats the point there are not that many great injectionmethods practicable by “noobs” without the technical skills to do with a “1-click”-action. Only “downside” are those long Patchingstreaks but they go around that by pulling out patches before being able to access the servers again. Also as mentioned the Internetspeeds raised a lot so it’s okay to download 1 or 2 gigs.
I like those quick updates a lot more but it’s fine.
I don’t think we will have performance update soon like stated by Devs

hm did they stated it somewhere? i guess Steamcards and stuff are more important

Adding steam trading cards doesn’t impact game development as it was handled by the Publisher and not the Developer. From what I have heard it is also a pretty straightforward process.
Also, the Devs have their own forums for the game and they do stream regularly, so maybe that is where the information is coming from?
So is there any Patch Notes in this patch 1.8gb while im downloading i want to know what they changed but i cant find it… so do u guys know it ?? (sorry for bad eng x)
