Yeah I’m quite badly colourblind and BC2 is a problem. Blops to begin with was a problem as well, but they’ve now added alt colour mode and friendlies now show in light blue which helps greatly. I had the same issue with ETQW until I learned that you can specify arrow colours on the radar/map which is the best yet.
close release worries
Hehe yeah it can be frustrating at times. I’m not that bad. I can tell the difference between blue and red when it’s against a neutral backdrop (ie above the map on bottom left) but in the snow it makes me doubletake!
Why the heck do you need to have incentives to play a team game? If you don’t like playing with a team and helping out in a team then why would you buy a team based game in the first place? Go and buy another game instead that suits you better then, problem solved.
though with bc2 it could be argued that such things are merely further accented by the metric-****tons of bloom associated with all snow-maps… and the complete and total lack of any color not grey, black, brown, white, or any color consisting of primarily those… not to mention each side looking exactly the same anyways, aside from vehicles… but as those could be stolen even that wasn’t a completely viable method of telling sides…
anyways brink has color, and distinct styles for each side… so as long as there are no areas with the same metric-****tons of bloom, everything should be good…

I’m not colorblind and have perfect vision, and I get confused between the 2 factions for the reason you stated.
The one thing I really prefer about the Vietnam expansion pack is that you know a avatar’s affiliation immediately, even from a distance.
Because of all the shiny custimisationzzz!
What iIve garnered from talking to people on Xbox live is that most people don’t see Brink as an objective and team based game. They tend to see it just for it’s parkour and custimisation/ visual style.

This is a good point. What if the audience that you attract isn’t one that is inherently team-oriented? What if they like ‘a slick visual style’? or the ‘sweet customization options, bro’? or ‘a totally badass parkour system, dude’?
“You don’t like pulling off sweet wall jumps and awesome parkour tricks? Then why would you buy a parkour-based game in the first place? Go and buy another game that suits you better. There, problem solved.”
- Why so serious?!?
to all those that cry noob, i am not saying that i wouldnt buff team mates, i always play as the medic in bbc2 and tf2 and like to help people, but i know alot of people are not like me, and, as mentioned here, love to see their name sitting smuggly atop everyone else’s, and the way to get there would be to spend all points on bettering yourself and buff others for the same amount of xp and still kill like a terminator
Back on the worries subject, is there going to be a system that addresses the mass suicide on the spawn timers issue seen in W:ET (and I would assume ET:QW).
umm no thats one of the best things about videogames is leveling up so go play with your atari while the rest of us ENJOY THE 21st CENTURY!!!
Yes, because apparently fun went extinct back in the 80’s - brilliant observation…
Irrelevant. L4D 1 and 2 is one of my favourite and most played games. It has no XP system and as such doesn’t lose interest/appeal.
Fallout 3 was one of my favourite games too and I was severely addicted to it… until I reached the level cap and then I kinda felt like there was no point anymore, and so I stopped exploring as much and basically went from set mission to mission.
XP can detract from the game as a whole and make you focus on XP rather than what’s important in the game.
Not everyone will think like that. My point is that those who need to be bribed to play a game won’t play it for long anyways. Their shenanigans won’t last.
By the time you max a character’s level you will likely still be no where near experienced with every combination the game offers. There will still be more guns and mods to try. More skills to swap out since you can’t purchase all of them to one character. There will be lots and lots to try despite being level capped. They have to draw the line somewhere because they still want some balance between 1 and 20.
I played ET on XP save servers and I enjoyed maxing out each class then picking which ever one was most beneficial to the team. I didn’t care that the little promotions stopped popping up, that wasn’t the point. Some people would do it and then pick their favorite class and refuse to change (usually panzer). Whenever I went soldier I always tried to challenge myself with the MG or flamethrower. Brink will be just like that. Always more things to try out. It feels even more rewarding since the levels will persist and carry across.
People who need to be bribed (ACHIEVEMENTS) to play games are not gamers. They are casual passer-bys treating it like a movie or music. It’s their entertainment and they don’t want to study, learn, or get anything cerebral out of it. Then at the same time they’ll wonder how people can be better than them. The achievement trend has made everyone think that’s what it takes to master a game; get all the trophies placed by the devs.
I imagine getting to level 20 could not take more than 30 hours on a single character. Even if not, I’m betting it’s still a two digit number in a factor of hours. You can’t possibly have mastered a game in less than 100 hours. Play it more for discovering new tactics and combinations. Enrichment and enjoyment. Level 20 is there so that the truly casual players can be better about themselves for quitting. They may grief for awhile, but that individual in particular will quickly move on. I think that’s why L4D2 has far fewer griefers than the first initially did (when people played it). To those types it’s just more of the same and they wouldn’t buy it a second time.
