Well yeah because we’re talking about a very specific role here. Only one person gets to pick the specific objective for a limited amount of time so I really wonder how important weapon selection is in this context. By letting the player keep all his stuff and strength for the most part you’re making the role of the carrier less distinct and more superficial.
I really like the idea of making the carrier very vulnerable and therefore reliant on his team. A secondary weapon limit and a slow down would achieve that.
I also think that only allowing the secondary would accentuate the class differences for the carrier even further as well as pushing the use of side-arms more because I still don’t see those enough around. The soldier would be the only one who gets to carry with a rifle, the covert would be the only one with an automatic side arm.
It would be even more interesting once new specialisations prop up. A carrier with a throwing knife or whatever, it all would add something really odd to the objective and increase the variation between the matches.
