Brink TV will be at QuakeCon 2011
why do people turn every thread into a complaints thread

Valid points but…
Probably because brink.tv is suppose to stream and shoutcast the matches, but who wants to watch a match in 3rd person? To make matters even worse you couldn’t even ask the teams to record demos from their point of view because it doesn’t work. I feel bad for the brink.tv guys since they’re a great group of people, but they got screwed over when it comes to being able to shoutcast and stream matches for this game.

Finally i can stop watching the repeats … good luck n stuff

Well, while it is true that first person spectating is lacking and it hurts, I don’t mind 3rd person spec for the fight ambiance’s sake, just like if you watch a football/soccer game, you don’t get first person view and that’s still ok.
Now for FPS, I know first person view allows to learn more how to play by watching people, but most importantly it can help find cheaters in online pub games.

Also I think the spectator should not be blinded like that by the blind nades… this is kinda frustrating, last time I watched brink tv.

That should be fixed. But I think spectators should have a hint on when a flashbang has exploded to tell from regular grenades. I would say a slight blind effect, very minimal.

Watching sports in 3rd person shouldn’t be an excuse for not having 1st person spec; it doesn’t make sense to watch sports in 1st person as you wouldn’t be able to left click and scroll through everyone on your TV or right click and go to 3rd person if you wanted to watch some set piece/objective from above.

It isn’t that I watch matches just to learn or catch cheaters, it’s just more exciting and interesting to watch a match from someone’s point of view. 3rd person spectating makes the game appear even more random than it already is.

They’ve been doing well so far considering.

Is this really the place to bring it up AGAIN there’s 100s of other threads about all this stuff

(Thundermuffin) #27

Why wouldn’t I bring it up again in a thread about watching the game? No matter how amazing Greased and co will be (and they will be great), their work will be brought down by SD’s game. That’s funny as normally it’s the other way around. Watch some of the TF2 shoutcasts with beginners and you’ll notice the game may be amazing, but the shoutcasting brings it down.

I really hate that too, as I was hoping BRINK would launch Greased to the levels of djWHEAT and Warwitch. I like Greased’s way of shoutcasting, plus his involvement within the gaming community which would make him a great community figure for future ET and Wolfenstein titles.
