As much as I’m happy for the packs coming to Europe, I’m also very disappointed in the country selection (not that I hate Germany). Every single game in Germany since 2010 is edited, with no blood, gore and such. If I want to play a game, I want to play it whole, not just the outer shell.

Are the packs coming to UK anytime soon?
and that is the problem of the publisher/dev not germany.

note how BOTH dead space games were completely uncut.

no one forces them to cut the games, it’s just that most over the top uncut games get indexed, you#re still allowed to sell them, you’re still allowed to play them etc.
the publishers are just not allowed to advertise these games(in germany).

Publishers already neglect mainland europe when it comes to advertisement, I rarely see ads, infact the last ad I remember was a huge Mafia2 poster…
I think their own censorship hurts them more than the loss of their unused advertising…

there are just like 20 or so gamers that are completely unsellable in germany, games like manhunt, stupid **** like that, and playing even this games is completely legal.

One huge example of publisher overreaction is Valves counter strike source.
When it was released in germany, the uncensored version got a USK16 rating.
it was packed with Half life2, so I guess they didnt care about that as HL2 was USK18.
A year later when they released a standalone version they censored their own game without a reason, the game was rated USK16, they didnt have to censor it, yet they still did.
there is no way they would’ve gotten a USK12 rating by censoring it, yet they still did it, they even had head room, the game could’ve been rated USK18 and they would’ve still kept their advertising right…
but they still censored it…

To this date the uncensored version of the game is rated and sold to 16 year olds, but buying this game now via steam or as a standalone in the shop gives you the censored version for no ****ing reason, just because valve is clueless about german laws…

On the other hand, do you want a video game company to make great games, or be well-versed in the laws of every country it sells games in? Lawyers are really expensive.

Im 21 and I understand that **** better than Valve…
they’re just lazy… I mean, they could EASILY release uncut, indexed or even forbidden games like manhunt through steam and no one could do ANYTHING against it.

In fact, they’re already breaking German laws…
they are selling USK16 games without an age check.
if they already breaking the law with USK16 games, they could easily do the same with USK18 games, it doesnt matter… both are illegal the same way…

on top of that you can EASILY circumvent the censoring by getting it gifted by anyone outside of germany…

at least one german employee stepped up to gabe newell and talked about the issue, they’re looking into it and consider introducing a age verification for 18+/indexed games in the future…

Yes, but do you also understand Japanese laws? Canadian legislation? Australian rules and regulations? (Of course not, NO ONE understands Australian classification: No R18+ games???)

They make the games, they aren’t lawyers.

That is excellent news badman. Another thing I’d like to ask is if the PC version in germany is going to have just the translated version, or if the English language will still be available. I don’t want to buy the game and be stuck with the German language
