Brink on PS3

30" Dell ?[/QUOTE]

Yeah its not bad, would like a higher refresh now days though, but could never justify upgrading at this time as this is supposed to be a graphics work machine rather than the PC game machine it turns into every so often… eep

And putting things on 50 floppy drives was normal.

I laughed when i saw the ATI sapphire running everything max too

(Apoc) #43

PC will never die while consoles still use POS controllers, and maximum framerates of 60

(Herandar) #44

PC will never die, because it is not just about gaming.

(Apoc) #45

Kind of presumed people would realise i was talking about platforms for gaming…

and 720 resolution

At the time the xbox 360 was released, we were on the 6XXX series of nvidia cards… the graphical power of the 360 at the time was compared to 2x 6800 GTX’s. The comparison footage of Crysis 2 on PC compared to 360 isn’t as big a difference as you would expect (of course PC still looks better), which isn’t bad for 6 year old hardware. My point being, I think the next iteration will be on par… so 1920x1080, decent AA+AF, DX11, higher framerates etc. How many of you are on 6 year old PC hardware and can claim to run Crysis 2 that well?

(Nail) #48

my 10 year old monitors still do 1600 x 1200, 1080 is ok I guess

Games today are not optimised enough as they should be for PC (not all of them) thats the main problem.
What you’ve said about the graphical power of the 360 compared to 2x 6800 it’s still
the same.Just game developers not support those cards anymore. They’re making
games that looks not better than games from 1,2 or even 3 years ago and runs crap
on PCs that they should have run perfect.

You’ve talked about Crysis.
Crysis 1 has better graphics than Crysis 2 or lets say it’s almost the same.
Back than you could have run Crysis on very high settings with core2duo CPU and 8800gt
gpu. Today the minimum sys requirements for Crysis 2 is 8800gt GPU.

I ran Crysis on a C2D E6600 with a 8800GTS 640mb, and you say could ‘run’ it on very high… sure, but don’t expect anything to be smooth, because it wasn’t… especially when you hit the snow portion of the game.

Minimum for Crysis 2 is 8800, meaning the 360 is under the minimum yet runs it very well. People are writing the consoles off as underpowered, when its my opinion that they’re doing pretty darn well on outdated hardware… and the next release will be exactly the same.

Cytek just threw out that piece of bull to pacify PC gamers. While my pc with an 8800gt could only run Crysis at medium, it can max out Crysis 2 at 40fps.

I ran Crysis on C2D E6750 with a 8800GT OC.
Back than i’ve played with WinXP so i only had the high option (Very high only for DX10).
Without AA Crysis 1 runs great with those specs.

(DarkangelUK) #53

Right so not very high at all then, I was running it very high as I was on Vista at the time.

(Tec) #54

When Crysis 1 was out it was not optimised
enough to run smooth on dx10 with everything maximized
even if you had the 8800 ultra and better CPU.

Again if Crysis 1 runs great on high settings with the hardware that we’ve
mentioned, Crysis 2 should run the same with good stable reasonable FPS (not 40).

(DarkangelUK) #55

The hardware mentioned was 6800GTX, because I was specifically referring to the xbox 360. Again my point was that 6 year old console hardware is running comparatively well compared to newer PC hardware… it was the replies that were putting down the console for only running 720res @ 60fps, and I think its doing very well for its specs and age.
