That is why its such a brilliant idea to make the downloadable maps only free for 2 weeks. That way, when new players DO come, they will be split off from the main playerbase.
Brink not in the steam top 100?
Maybe because they have allready a couple DLC packages in queue. Or do you think they start to work on them from zero just after release? The only reasons why they didn’t just throw them out is that in case of Brink they have to be coupled with a patch, plus they need time for price evaluation and stuff like that. And probably a little fine tuning.
Second, the IP would die.
Third, it is important for the reputation of the studio and the PR of future games and for finding a publisher. And by doing so being able to raise the budget for the next title and keeping their jobs.
And, and, and…
Its easy to imagine why SD and any other dev-group wouldn’t end their interest in their product, even if they’d know for sure that they allready sold their last copy of a game.
what reputation? what dlc? it is a joke
this game is reduced in about 400/500 average concurrent players in all the world in a month…it should win an award for such an incredible fast fail

You obviously never played APB.
I see it, peaking at 724 players right now, saw it last night as well, maybe it was some type of glitch on your part?
My gawd APB has to have set the record for Quickest fail of a game in MMO gaming history… Goes on sale, 3 months later - game dies, literally shut down.
Griefers,Aimbotters and all around idiots are more prevalent in Reloaded when I was playing the beta…
and by “reloaded” they mean: sold to another company who put in a whole load more work into and then released in in a hopes to drag previous players back in for a quick buck but still suffers most of the original issues (except now you can rent guns).
And was it 3 months before it folded? I thought it was 1 month. I certainly didn’t play for longer than a month even though I had plenty of time left. That game seriously dissapointed me.
Who cares. If you are doing it to do missions you are doing it wrong. Most of the time I just rob people and have chases. Customize EVERYTHING and yes, grief other players.
Griefing is a lot of fun. Smash into cars while they are chasing someone in a mission, or boxing in people.
I wouldn’t call Brink a failure. It is a disappointment, though. APB’s a failure of massive proportions. “Reloaded” is anything but an improvement. I’ve beta tested both versions. It’s still ridden with the exact same problems. From griefing to continuous hacking. The only difference now is that they charge you ridiculous amounts for in game content. You’re gonna have to cough up $50 for a weapon if you want to win, Jimmy.
