Brink could have been awesome
bash me all u want but this game should have been 3rd person and it would of more then likely ended a automatic hit but come to find out its a first person shooter it’s just going to be garbage i dont care how good the moves look, feel. Nobody is going to care why do a cool move like slide under a metal detector or climb walls and all the cool stuff u can do in brink when u really cant see it happen dont get me wrong the game looks amazing feels amazing the smart system is genius the character creation is outstanding best i’ve seen in awhile but whats the point of having a robust customization if u cant see your character atleast have it a option. Im afraid this game will only break even if it stays fps only and im not the only one saying that either (half the people at quake con) great concepts with a beautiful art style and great graphics smart system is truly unique but nobody wants a mirrors edge 1.5 with awesome guns maybe brink 2 could be a TPS then my friends u will truly have a Ip that could be milked more then CoD
TL;DR version:

Please add third person view. I think it is such a radical feature that it would eclipse all others. Once again: please add it or I’m outta here, and I’ll take my many friends with me.

I think I’ve seen this template of feature requests before, we should find our own nickname for it.

If only MW2 was fully 3rd person, it wouldn’t have flopped, FPS just clearly aren’t the thing that catch on with the mainstream be it on PC or Console.

MW2 has a 3rd person mode.

edit: Might be what you just said but it’s unclear.

the OP had one period in the whole post. Just sayin.

Anyway, I actually think it would be cooler to do a parkour move in first person because its more visceral, you feel more involved; similar to how racing games always feel really cool from cockpit view. I’d rather be doing the stuff then watching my guy do stuff you know?

tokamak was obviously being sarcastic

That’s why I liked Mirror’s Edge so much. That feeling of immersion was awesome!

(maxtalent) #27

its relevant

No, Brink has 3rd person game-modes, does it not?

(kamikazee) #29

What, like “ride the pony”?

This game might be a good 3rd person shooter, but i dont see it being any better just because its made 3rd person, The only thing i’d worry about is the amount of content in levels to play, and how big the levels are. and how respawning works. Its too early in the game to really say, but the movement system and the customization system looks very well designed. I’m hoping that the guns in the game are all really cool because 24 doesn’t sound like much but its definately enough if done right.

The problem with 3rd person shooters is you can see around corners without revealing yourself. you have to line up your aimer with your character especially in close quarters. and if your in a vent or a tight area you can’t see because your character is standing in the way of your view.
For competetive games FPS is the way to go.

24 guns is not enough!? Christ man… How many did you need?!? Don’t forget also that each gun is customisable so in essence you’re really getting hundreds or thousands of guns.

So true, 3rd person is just cheap, makes every game easier… anyway I love racing games in cockpit as long as you can see the wheel and the inside of the car it is way more intense! and that is exactly what I think FPS free running shooting will be intense.

(tokamak) #33

Having more guns is pointless if it means they’ll all start to look like each other.

(Senyin) #34

What? 24 is plenty me thinks! In fact, I wish there were less guns, I like simplicity.
I hate games turned into some kind of circus act.
It’s not the gun, it’s what you do with it. I rather have 6 or 8 situational guns.

Indeed!
