Brink by Numbers: 100 Quadrillion Characters and More

I just drooled all over my keyboard. The amount of customization in this game is utterly insane. 4,500 weapon sounds and 4,963 different weapon customization arrangements is amazing. Oh, the 102,247,681,536,000,000 different characters is pretty cool too.

thats hot:eek:

It’s over 99,000,000,000,000,000!

Someone had to do it. Sorry. But dang man, that many unique character possibilities is nothing to sneeze at. Every gamer on Earth could have a million unique characters all to themselves and there would still be plenty to go around.

Getting raped by dickwolves. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

is sexuality one of the character customizations? if so, can it affect plot or interactions with NPCs in any meaningful way?

nice to hear about all the sounds and lines of dialogue, but are they going to be HD audio on the PS3 version or last-gen MP3? are they at least high bitrate AAC like most other games?

thanks!

If numbers could kill, wait they can in 45 ways to die only in Brink. Crazy numbers

WAY TO DIE: doing the math it took to find all this out!

32 million colors * actual player models * actual weapon models * skins = still 40 total actual charectors

(DouglasDanger) #30

There are many different things you can do to each face/head. You can change hair cut, hair color, skin tone, scars, face paint, face hair, tattoos, all kinds of things to make each character different, before you even factor in the actual clothes. There is something like shirt, over shirt, and pants, and different colors and textures, head gear and face gear…

(TAPETRVE) #31

You’re not a king, a stable boy at most :stuck_out_tongue: .

(iezza) #32

My character will be Emo.

32 million colors * actual player models * actual weapon models * skins * skins decals * hair styles = still 40 total actual charectors

numbers mean nothing, unless its FPS, is brink faster or slower then quakewars, splash recoded most of the renderer and the whole engine is only a third of idtech4

(boozee84) #34

this is insane. this game will never get boring!

Who figured this formula for total unique characters and how much free time did the have?
I wonder, for weapon sounds will it be minor tweaks like skin colour?

PS: Yes It’s spelt colour, for the americans who slaughtered the english language confusing some of us in the southeren hemisphere.

most of the numbers come from a 32 million color pallette you use to change the skin/tattoo/hair color

ingame you will probaly only be able to notice 32 different color tints

>>a color palette http://www.etntalk.com/colorpicker/flash/colorpicker.swf, custom colors are probaly stored as cvars in the config, using the quakewars editworld light picker, that uses float values for colors in maps
