Brink 2: A Beginning

yeah, story needs to play a bigger part. And not so interchangeable. Its great for MP, but players are not invested in the “scope” of the Ark. A linear campaign or SP segment keep people “immersed” in the character they are playing and the story they are unfolding.

What’s more, you get to enjoy and explore the environments more because you are not concerned about letting your human teammates down. I’m not saying it has to be a HUGE part of the game, but just something to help give a damn about the plight of the Ark.
Something I’d like to throw into the melting pot is Character Development.

I don’t give a damn about the characters I have made since they have no input into storyline. Developing a character, even a faceless one like Noble Six from Reach gains a certain personal investment that keeps player interested.

I guess you need a Campaign for Character Development due to Plot, but there’s another suggestion that DarkAngelUK made.
I agree. In this game, you don’t really feel attached to your character too much, it’s more like a skin that you jump into as opposed to a character you become attached to. Noble Six was a good example, you never saw his face, you didn’t even know his real name, but they still developed his character enough to make you feel attached. This character is supposed to represent us basically, yet he doesn’t show up that much in cutscenes, he sort of blends into the background. I understand this was done on purpose, but it makes him feel impersonal and more like a tool than anything, it’s like your character’s a robot, doesn’t even speak once. It seems weird in cutscenes where he just sits there quiet while everyone else screams and shouts, it’s cool sometimes cause it makes him seem like a silent sentinel, knowing it’s better to keep his mouth shut sometimes. I also understand, it helps you remain neutral on which side you want to pick and lets you make the choice. I mean, if you’re character is bashing the other team, that’s going to turn you against them, but on the other hand, it gets you pumped for the fight. All he needs is a line, just one even, just to make him feel more involved. He could even stop someone who’s trashing the other team, similar to what some Sec characters do when their teammates start to get too hot headed.
