Yes it’s F2P with an emphasis on no Pay2Win mechanics. Current purchase options will net you earlier access to the game (Alpha/Beta), some other goodies and of course it directly supports the developer.

I hope they will announce the close beta ASAP so I can pladge my money on it. until then, I’ll keep watching the forums for more information.
