Battle for the Ark...pointless?

You get your friends together in non-bot matches? Let me know how you do it. The force team balance and assigned teams when new players join makes it rather difficult for my friends and I. I have yet to managed a full team of 5 on the same team without it being in a private match. Let me know what your secret is.

If you are talking about bot matches then who cares? I don’t want to play against bots nor do any of my friends.
Not trying to Brag here… but it’s true…

Whenever I play, I usually do really well and kill really well, however, I play Nothing but soldier, so I never can do the objectives, so I rely on Bots to do the work for me… the only time my team wins, is when I’m out numbered, (usually, 3-5 v 1), and I dominate them so bad, they want to stop getting owned, and go to my team, THEN security wins… however, there’s not team balancing system, so there will usually be a 5 v 1 game, and my bots AI doesn’t get any better, if anything, worst. I can take on 2 guys usually, 3 at most, but my bots can’t even kill 1 guy and they always have a guy on the other team getting most kills and I’ll check my stats later and I’ll have 20+ kills… thus meaning the bots don’t do any better even though there’s only 1 of me…

I should make a post about that to bring it to attention. :)
When playing by yourself, the bots support you, as you must do the important work. They are there getting command posts, setting up turrets, deploying mines, and sometimes shooting straight up into the sky for no apparent reason. But it is up to you to get her done, brother. You can’t expect a bot to do the dirty work for you? You got to change your ways and become a Medic. Get a degree. Become an Engineer. Or work as a spy. Don’t be a common foot soldier. Be the leader of Bots.

Whuhaahaha!

I’m aware of that, but they don’t cover me… even when I end up doing a hack job, they still manage to not cover me or let me get raped by the 3+ players. I think the bots, in order to feel a little less like players, need to focus more on the primary objectives, and only if the players aren’t getting the secondary, THEN the bots will, because I usually go for secondary, and there’s nobody (referring to bots here) getting the primary…

I know all about the bots, that’s why I was being tongue and cheek about it. There is a fine line with how the bots are designed: if they actually complete objectives, then there is a high risk that there’d be very little challenge to the game as a by-product and could result in a passive player. On the other hand if they don’t help at all then that’s gonna be constant frustration. But if you had to make it one way or the other from a design perspective, you have to go with the second or somewhere in the middle. Middle ground is programming the bots to do supportive tasks like capture command posts. Most Coop games with bots on your team, the bot mostly gets in the way. They seldom clean up for you with kills. They more or less act as set pieces in most FPS games. Overall, I think the current setup is the most logical way to create a Versus feel in a single player campaign as possible. I don’t remember the bots on my team in CodMW helping me get through the No Fighting in the Wareroom, that’s for sure. I did that **** myself!
