I think Arty’s arty should really just be map based. Then we could justify it’s pitiful radius, not to mention that it’s easily avoided since there’s a laser dot on the ground.
Arty Buff
I’d rather have the point and click aim arty in ET had. That way you can cast it fast when you need to and take your time to aim it perfectly whe you got time.

Atry should have a change in weapons. He is strictly worse than Skyhammer in the Underground maps.
For example, he could use sniper rifles and LMGs instead of burst fire rifles. LMGs really need the ammo he has, while being poor in long range and oftentimes being considered bad by the high level players for this reason.
Sniper rifles can make a long-ranged Arty class suited towards spot removal, and as a bonus there is flavor to gain for this, as in real life snipers are often used to help artillery fire reach BVR.
The disadvantage Arty has is that he needs to get people scouting out and giving him information, while being easy to kill outright. He has a strict information disadvantage against Vasilli, and as a sniper that can mean a ton.
Maybe give Arty the PDP? Not a pure Sniper Rifle but do many really use it much on Vas? Giving him that wont take away Vas’ Sniper power but would give Arty range and maybe more use.
I also suggested LMGs for this class. But honestly, Arty would not be taking away from Vasilli’s role very easily, because he can’t spot.
Maybe some time back but seems like they reduced the cooldown on it. It’s still pretty powerful able to catch players off guard (no one expects a Surprise Arty Party). It’s biggest flaws are closed maps like Underground and the second half of Terminal but on Chapel, and Trainyard he has plenty of sky to play with. He also does respectable on Bridge, especially if people decide to clump around the EV (great time to party).
Well one of the higher skill ceilings. The biggest issue people have with him is his small AoE, but it also has the shortest calldown time of the fire supports beaten only by Stoker. And since you use a laser designator you can catch people off guard (especially that sniper that thinks he’s safe on Train Yard).
A bit of a necro, but the thread is still relevant.
And with the release of Dome and the new Stark change, I gotta say Arty did get a nice indirect buff. But the BR-16 screwed over any chance of CQC.

Oh, yeah, I didn’t see that. Think July 30 might have been before they buffed Arty’s Arty Party (petition to change the name of his Artillery Spotter to that).
I think Arty needs to have absolutely zero “locking” time with his ability - if he could quickly switch out, instantly lase in an artillery strike and then continue shooting, he’d be much more effective in combat without making him OP at all. Plus, trying to call in those strikes can be so finnicky sometimes compared to Skyhammer and Stoker who can just throw theirs out with no time at all.
Just a suggestion.

How OP would it be if his Artillery strike was an underbarrel attachment, or part of his clothes? So he could literally keep shooting and point down an artillery at the same time?
The idea of making the artillery strike an underbarrel attachment doesn’t make sense.
Arty is much more viable than he used to be. However, the artillery spotter is still buggy as hell and burst rifles got hit pretty hard in the update. He’s technically better than Kira now as the laser can no longer zip across the map and burst rifles now cannot power through AR or SMG users as reliably.
Personally I feel like he is way too spammy with 2 strikes.
Much rather have a Designator that fires a dart, that marks where the artillery strikes drop, they drop for 5 seconds. You could maybe even reward good accuracy by letting the strikes follow an enemy stuck with the dart, until they take enough damage and get gibbed.
I think his ability is fine in terms of damage, time before impact and cooldown. It just needs to have its targeting system relaxed a little so it feels less buggy to use. He is probably the single most map dependent merc in the game because of how awkward it can be to call his strikes in some situations. Maybe adding a slight, perhaps 10 degree angle to his strike would open up much more space for his strike to hit and stop little ledges like the one above the front entrance to the generator room on bridge from stopping it from being called would go a long way to solving this problem.
And why not…?
Kira has access to the exact same guns, the only thing that changed for Kira was laser speed, so I really doubt Arty is better than Kira.

Interesting idea, seems kind of fun, but it is pretty much a drawn out skyhammer strike. We need a fire support with a “spammy” ability to kind of fill in the cracks.
Also I wouldn’t really consider Arty to be spammy, 20 seconds is a very long time, haven’t really found playing against him to be hard.
I would love an angle, because currently Kira is the only person that can attack slightly indoors, and that’s mostly because of the ridiculous hitbox of the laser.
His character as in personality or his gameplay? I also kind of like his personality.
I’d like to see his arty strike call in faster, maybe instant. If there needs to be a delay in the actual strike hitting so be it but whatever.
