Any News on that Crafting Update?

(The_N00Ba) #21

The way I look at it crafting will eventually be changed. The math needs to be looked at again in my opinion.
The thing is crafting is one of hundreds of things people of asked if not demanded to be looked at. With limited man power and time there is only so much that can be done by SD. I believe they have to prioritize things, which means we have to wait on things.
I personally can never demand SD to everything because to me that’s unrealistic.
So I choose to be patient and wait. That’s just me.

Horrible after selling all my unwanted cobalts golds and silvers for scraps I have not gotten back much and still have to pay 50k gold + 20k scraps for a single cobalt in other words if you scrap a cobalt you get 15k scraps and still have to pay 50k gold +5k scraps if you want to craft a new cobalt.

All I got is 1 free weapon kit and the least you need is 2 to crate a bronze card seems like bait to me cause you can by more weapon kits for real life money in the store.

Last time I’ve checked recycling (“selling”) a cobalt card would get you only 13k fragments (“scraps”) so you need 7k fragments (“scraps”) and 50k credits (“gold”) to get a new cobalt.

I agree that the fragment cost is high, though. I’ve played 200-ish hours (although spent a considerable amount of that in ranked queue) and after unlocking all mercanaries I want and sitting on a pile of credits, so I decided to recycle a cobalt I’ve opened from an elite case (the case was an arsenal crate reward)
Recycled all my lead, iron and duplicate cards, and got like 4k fragments total. “Only” need 3k more, so I can craft a cobalt. (mind you, only because I already have one) Considering this info, who on earth needs crafting kits?

The best part is, that you can’t really buy fragments from the store, or even weapon kits. You can pay 5 euro for a 5% chance to get one cobalt for a random mercanary, what a lovely offer.
Let’s say you buy 20 elite cases (for the price of any AAA title). If the RNG favors you, you get 1 cobalt, 5 goldies and 14 silver cards. If you don’t like the cobalt, you recycle it, and 4 golds to reach 20k fragments, so you can finally have one cobalt for the merc you want.

But what happens if you don’t get lucky? I also play warframe, and I had occasions where I needed 20+ rolls to get the reward which had 10% drop chance - so getting 0 cobalts from 20 elite cases is more than possible. For example you have 14 silvers and 6 golds. That means if you recycle all 14 silver and 6 gold cards, you get 20460 fragments. Yay! One cobalt for a price of a full game!

TLDR: If you see someone with a cobalt, (s)he either paid a fortune/played 500 hours for it, or got extremely lucky.

^ or they got all their cobalts before crafting released.

While I dont care much about rare cards myself I get the frustration. All this stupid, unnecessary bling bling crap was so hyped because its the way SD makes its money and a lot of people got hooked on collecting cards.

The first system was already bad. But the second one is just grinding. And after pushing out that system without any feedback from the broader community just to say we will fix it and then go silent… This just plainly sux.

Erf, not that much in fact. This crafting system is especially bad because no one gets what he wants. Whales don’t get their top bling, SD does not get its income, and players not giving a damn about crafting did not get their expected updates for a year and a half. Let’s call it a draw.

Would be nice if we could just get the change reverted. There was an overwhelming majority who disliked the crafting system. Don’t get me wrong, the efficiency of trading up increased, but it’s pointless to trade up silver/gold cards and there’s a lack of progression as well. Who has over 800 lead cards to just trade up all at once? Who would want to wait that long and not be able to play with shiny silver/gold cards?

Others have already pointed out the problems with the crafting system so I don’t see why it wasn’t either reverted, or the prices adjusted? Rather than leaving the new, shitty system in, why not make a simple change…?

I get where they were going with it, but the execution failed. Considering the lack of other content, card collecting keeps a lot of people busy. Sure, it’s not a necessity, but it keeps people interested. I mean, just look at CS:GO and numerous other games with collectible items.

To be honest, it just kinda sucks having a currency and not being able to use it on anything at the moment. Cards are our only option. We could spend real money and buy Expert/Elite cases, but Silvers/Golds are devalued with the current system, so what’s the point?

(GatoCommodore) #30

do they revealed it to the players before applying the crafting changes permanently?

(hawkeyeguy99) #31

@Sploosh exactly. But the only problem is that if they did revert it, people would lose all of their fragments. If they were to revert they would have to announce it a week or so ahead of time so people could use fragments, which sounds too involved for SD. Like actually engage the community? Lol when hell freezes over.
Unfortunately, none.

Radio silence on Crafting since September 2, 2016. That’s 140 days (4, nearly 5, months) at time of writing.

Radio silence on modernizing Gen1 Special Edition since this was closed in August. That’s 5-6 months at time of writing.
5-6 months…that’s like a week to the devs! >.<
