Agents of Change: Impressions, Problems and Suggestions
Fair enough, I see your point, and I take back the “trolling” comment.
I was just trying to express my first impressions, not trying to say “here are the facts.” Thought starting a discussion could be beneficial. Maybe I was wrong. I am a newb on this site, and you obviously are not.
I don’t want to get into a war of words with you, especially since we don’t know each other at all and perhaps could get along fine after this. If not, that is fine, and I still respect your opinions, even if you doubt the validity of mine.
I look forward to seeing what you think of the maps, and what others think.
Here is a random penguin with a gun to help lighten the mood.

I don’t have a problem with you buddy. Just with your post. It’s written in a very systematic and important looking format for a first impressions thread. And some of it made no sense like you saying tower or whatever has a confusing layout. I still get turned around on aquarium when i’m trying to find the door to outside… but I still think the design is amazing.
In shipyard when you’re defending the crane I would see the gate to the left of the crane if you’re in the crane facing the front get blown up all the time. Until I realized there was a little hole in the wall I could get into and get above the outside of that gate and have cover.
I never liked container city until I realized there were hidden high points you can ambush others from.
Sometimes it’ll take an average player a very long time to notice the more subtle elements of some of the Brink levels. I’m always discovering new things… and now that the gunplay has been tweaked the game is phenomenal. I myself will post some insight for you later if you’d like in this thread.
I’ve just downloaded a 30MB patch for BRINK (pc), there is no way that the whole DLC is taking only 30MB.
We already have it since a while on our hdd?
30 megs was probably a patch, DLC is still not release yet.

I would love to hear your opinions, since it seems obvious you know more about this game than I do. I would really like to pick your brain, and others, about this game. That is why I started this thread – to get other players feedback. Guess I could have gone about it in a different way other than post a wall of text that made it look like I was saying “LOOK AT ME - FIRST!!!”
In terms of how long my post was, that is just the way I am. I have a (worthless) journalism degree and tend to be too verbose at times. I was just trying to start a convo and perhaps give a heads up to others. In my gaming clan, others often want me to give my first impression of a game, and I posted most of this word for word on our site. If I had realized it would have been perceived negatively here, I wouldn’t have posted it.
Regardless, that doesn’t excuse my “troll” comment, and once again I am sorry for saying it. I came here to get insight and make allies, not enemies, and I sure didn’t help that cause with that second post.
At least we can agree on one thing – Brink is awesome!
If ever in doubt. Think about it for a while. Sleep on it and if your opinions are still the same when you wake up… then go with your gut I guess.
Share them, see how they compare/contrast to your original thoughts. Sometimes what is most intriguing to others, is not the conclusions you came to, but how you came to them… or conversely, how you came to “reversing course” should it be the case.
I’m still undecided on the new levels, but that’s mostly because I have no friggin’ clue where I am, or where I am going half the time. SMART-wise, the lab and tower seem to be the most non-linear levels in the game. Like massive jungle-gyms.
Honestly I don’t care if you think I’m a troll. I wasn’t trolling. I was annoyed because I saw this expansive post and hoped for some insight into the DLC. Instead it felt to me like the OP was pretty disconnected and most likely doesn’t know how to explore and find additional routes. (Say like the Aquarium map. With the ventilation shaft flank.) I myself am gonna explore every corner of these maps and be impressed when I find some creative flanks.
I know from experience when I’m getting slaughtered at a choke point that there’s at least TWO ways around. And i don’t take the opinions of people seriously when it seems they’ve put zero time into taking things in before writing a page and a half of critiques.
It’s akin to the people who demoed Brink for 10 minutes and then wrote a review crapping all over the game because obviously the gameplay was too complicated for them.
We’ll see what people are saying in the months to come.
‘I myself am gonna explore every corner of these maps and be impressed when I find some creative flanks.’
Flame someone for giving an opinion based on what they have experienced in game? You just guess and make stuff up… Faceroll
‘It’s akin to the people who demoed Brink for 10 minutes and then wrote a review crapping all over the game because obviously the gameplay was too complicated for them.’
You sir live on another planet. lol
So, what happened to the squads the story used to follow in each of the cutscenes?
Wasn’t trying to be “first.” Just expressing an opinion that I explained was based on only a couple times playing the maps in order to start a conversation to see what others thought. Didn’t realize I would have upset people by doing so, because that was not at all my intention whether you believe me or not.
Regardless, still want to see what others have to say about the maps, and of course I am going to play them some more to see if my impression changes. Don’t think I will share those revised opinions here based on the replies so far.
My bad.
No one was saying that they don’t want to hear your opinions but I was set to read some info on the DLC and I got: I haven’t used any of the abilities and I’ve played labs 3x and tower 2x. That’s not much to go on. Honestly, I’m surprised this thread hasn’t been more active considering a bunch of people on PS3 have had the maps since last night.
It took you longer to write/think this post than the DLC has actually been out.
Nancy boys who rush to whine/complain before they’ve even sorted out what is going on = most annoying people on the interwebs.
This!!!
Im almost 24 and its the last trophy i need!!! Im so excited i cant spellz all good!!:stroggbanana:
P.S. Anyone have some visene? my damn eyes hurt :infiltrator:

Give him a break. He was giving HIS impressions of the game. Read the post before making assumptions that he is whining about the game like others did.
Ouch. Seems to be a lot of unfair criticism of the OP, some of which amounts to simply attacking the fact he posted ‘early’. Remember. First impressions count.
I’m wondering if it would be better to actually play the DLC then come back and debate the points than spend 2 pages arguing over whether it should have been posted ‘this early’…
Borlax, thanks for the insight. I’ll come back with comments when I’ve played the extra content through at the weekend. Have downloaded and installed it for PS3. Just waiting for the PC DLC update to land, too.
the maps are a lot of fun. they are complicated. you need to hack open pathways. there are chokepoints, but the team flows dovetail into each other (especially tower), so it’s not just wall against wall, which is more complex as well.
and like AWM. i get lost. a lot. (less now though) this is a good thing.
kudos.

Way to repeat exactly what I said, minus any sense of class.
Lemme put a disclaimer… what’s below is from playing for an hour. I’m still “studying” the DLC but I am excited to share some insight.
Founder’s Tower is by far my favorite map now. It’s got objectives and a lot of vertical space. My favorite used to be sec tower but now it’s founder’s. Splash Damage boys… you need to make more maps with tower in the name.
I thought I would hate the heal station. But I kind of like it. It makes for a slight harder challenge when busting through choke points. When I see that they are REALLY hard to kill I get close as I can and run through the tiny choke points they stand in and drop a nade as I go through… allowing me to turn around and flank them from the back as they get up and the rest of my team enters the room.
So far I think the UAV is annoying… but probably because I haven’t gotten to use it yet.
FLAME nades are a great device when you have to deliver a package. You run and if you know they are behind you, you spin chuck spin run. Great strategic weapons.
The bayonet is awesome. I like to keep one on my cross as I can charge shoot melee and they are deadmeat. Also it’s reach is further then the knife or the standard rifle butt.
I haven’t tried the shield but I noticed it makes headshots from barnetts that would usually be insta kills take half health. So if you’re a medium medic with a death wish I could recommend you use it with something like the rhett so you can get those nice close ranges kills while saving your buddies.
I like the limey pants and vest… not much else… I have tats on my guy so a vest that doesn’t look totally retarded is nice. looks at bug vest… vomits
Not one thing about the sad punk I liked.
The labs are good. I need to play through them a few more times… there’s also a couple spots where I couldn’t find alternate routes but that’s not uncommon… they aren’t in plain view.
Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna play as a light with no bots on tower and jump all over the damn place.
EDIT: Operatives will be excited to find that there are more hack objectives and on tower you get to blow stuff up TWICE.
Absolutely not the case. I know it’s a common misconception that DLC content is finished at the time the game ships and either just locked off or removed for a later download, but work on those maps continued for quite a while as the boxed product was in testing and certification.
Fair enough comments on the maps; it’ll be interesting to see if any opinions change.
looks like it will be tomorrow now as we have to wait for those useless yanks at steam to update. why leave it until a time thats too late for europe? its now 9pm here and no sign of anything, i feel like ive wasted a night now.

Thanks guys. Never in a millions years did I think I would cause problems with my post. Just wanted to start a discussion to see what others thought.
I respect those who say I didn’t give it enough time before posting my initial impressions without being negative about it. Those who just want to be rude, well, whatever makes them feel better about themselves. I will not loose any sleep over it.
I just want to make one thing clear – I love Brink, and I wasn’t at all saying the game was bad. Just giving my first impressions on the new maps, in which I stated very clearly were based on limited game time, because I wanted to see what others thought.

i found the OP quite informative. put it this way. thats 10,000x more useful than anything SD have said. oh well, i will try again tomorrow. i wont hold my breath. i love the game but it seems SD cant organise for ****
Can’t wait till capitalism bitchslaps splash damage out of the industry. “it’s free for 2 weeks! the two weeks when no one is playing, that will make people want to come back and play! Hey Bethesda, why are you shreading that contract?”
