-Question: So, can we expect the private matches to be in the next patch? – “I don’t actually know. There’s been no further news on it that I’ve heard.” (Darn, this isn’t looking good for private matches… :c)

-EVERY item in-game – most notably future additions – will be purchasable via in-game credits. (Shoe also said this will probably apply to cosmetic items too!)

 • They are working on the way abilities interact with windows. – Right now, Skyhammer’s airstrike breaks glass, but Kira and Arty’s abilities do NOT actually break the glass. In future they will do so, in order to make them trigger and react properly.

-There will be NEW Obsidian cards in the future for events – however the current ones will NOT be given away again. Those are exclusive to the founders.

-Rostrum “violated the game”. – Oh Ross… -sigh-

-Shoe. Got. An. Idea. (Yes, an idea. You’re welcome Zedczlp.)

 • Faraleth
What are the private matches even for? I don’t see any potential use outside of practicing jumps and maybe tourneys with friends. Not a whole lot of use.

Cosmetics? For Credits? Now that means I’ll pretty much never spend real life money on Dirty Bomb. Quite surprised they chose to do this.

Finally. I’m sick of shooting glass, and getting killed by someone while doing so.

Will there be repeats of the Closed Beta obsidian cards? I want to be special, please don’t take them away from me ;-;

“Violated”? As in NGS security violation?

Shoe got an idea? What does that mean?

And every time I want to reply, it’s a pain in the arse to edit. So many words.

@Xavien Heh, I just post what I feel helps people ^.^ …and, hmph grumble, grumble xD
@Xavien But posting irrelevant stuff is fun, just look at the “Fletcherize” thread
No IP / HWID bans?

Not like it makes much of a difference with how easily they are spoofed, but I’m somewhat suprised by the lack thereof
No worries, steam-account bans are just as efficient. It’s not like you can make a new one in less than 3 minutes, and even keep the whole DB install ready. Plus it would be extremely expensive to keep creating new f2p accounts.

Great, thanks for the write up!

In game report function is something I am really looking forward!

I personally don’t understand why there is even focus on new game mode (execution).
DB should be about stopwatch and the devs time should be focused on other things. But that’s just my personal opinion. Maybe people want another cs, cod? :frowning: I doubt that! Do the devs think that it brings cod, cs players? I really doubt that… well…

It’s not about bringing in a target audience it’s about giving their players more options… just playing Stopwatch/Objective all the time will get dull, in fact it really already has, players are already treating the game like it’s team deathmatch because they are bored of the game mode, given the opportunity people will play Execution because it’s new and refreshing, but it wont take over the game… there is still a lot of fun in what we have. Personally I’d like to see a symmetrical capture the flag-esque game mode… it’s likely on their minds already to be honest, but we wouldn’t see it any time soon.

Again, below is just how I personally see things:

Dedicated servers + user build maps is the way to make sure people are having constant fun and it’s the only way to build strong communities.

I have seen games providing X different game modes, because they saw it the same way. In the end none was really done well, and the game died. (Because there are better “execution” game mode games, better CTF games, better DM games, got it?)

Not that it’s the case with DB, I just want to see things finished before pulling out X new un-finished things for just small portion of players, so they are not “bored”…

They are working on implementing private matches which will be quite similar to dedicated servers, though actual dedicated servers may be possible in the future as well. They have also said that some sort of development for user created maps may be possible as well, these are not things we’ll see any time soon but still they are possible.

with the amount of cheaters is “Confirmed: Report-a-player function is in the next patch.” just going to end up like many other games where nothing is actually done when a player is reported ? sort of a false sense of getting rid of them.by pressing report.

every game i ever played with this function you look later at said cheater and they still playing. i hope this isn’t the case.

can report a player be discussed and what it entails ? so when a player is reported then what?

cheating is the main concern for this game at the moment and combating it. the game itself is great fun the cheating is just so rife though.

when a player is reported how long till investigated or action taken ? how will honest players be separated from cheats ?

(Faraleth) #30

@asparagusMist I can confirm that support definitely has a very strict attitude towards cheaters. It was only the other day I reported someone for hacking, and less than 24 hours later they had a “1 game ban.” listed on their steam profile.

I can’t answer how they actually check for cheaters - but my guess is (as they have brushed on this before) that they keep a player log of everything you do. I know MissMurder confirmed that every single action you do in game - from every case opened, to every kill you get - is logged by the servers for looking back on later.

So, they may look at aspects such as - is the player getting overly consistent headshots? Have they been reported before? What is their reaction time when getting into a 1-on-1? All these kind of things… We can’t know for sure though :s

(Pecka) #31

Yeah, do not expect instabans after you report someone. People are just people, and there will be X false reports.

I can tell you that there will be cheaters all the time, it’s sad but true for FPS gaming.
This applies to every single game…

Really, in every game I played, there were cheaters at the top level (and busted sooner or later, actually some people went for years in top teams before busted and some were never busted, even thought everyone knew they are cheating  ).

You actually play vs those people in tournaments and you can even well beat them. They just cannot go completely off. They mostly know how to play well and they are decent players and only use cheats to help them get just slightly better.

What I am really hoping for with in game report is to get rid of those kids that goes completely ballistic, and have the hack that allows them to kill others with one bullet.
This has to be easily traced in server logs and I hope that the time it takes to ban those people will be really, really short.

(asparagusMist) #32

the thing is many multihacks for this game have name stealers.

so basically cheaters will steal your name and " we adding a report a player function " you will end up getting reported for cheating when you are not !

hopefully they on this because this will get messy. as the game is a hackfest already . last thing it needs is loads of people getting reported by name stealers.

It doesn’t report based off name, it reports based on Steam ID, you have nothing to worry about… and in-game it’s blatantly obvious to tell who the name-stealing hacker is… look for the guy at the top of the scoreboard.

(asparagusMist) #34

and if they spoof your name or steam id ? look at at top of table oh that’s right hes using my name . that’s not new either its been in cod hacks for years.

guess we will see how it goes and if it works.

The name can be changed, but the Steam Account ID will remain the same.

(SteelMailbox) #36

All you people who think that they will insta ban makes me laugh.
I am 99.999% sure that once you rep someone they will investigate and not insta ban.
