ETQW Canceled login / Connection reset issue

(REA987) #32

Were console versions (PS3 & X360) playable online up until now?

(falloutdc) #33

The playstation 3 version worked before demonware got issues.

(ressected) #34

Are you able to provide a screen shot / video of the error so we can continue trying to escalate this?

(DarkangelUK) #35

Not looking good

1/8 is just before it went down, so it looks like this was planned?

Google Cache of the page in 20th Jan 2020;

The authentication server went offline in 9th Jan 2020. Since 20th, they added 11 games to the list.

We better kindly ask if it is Activision made Demonware shutdown the authentication server.

I also made a Wayback Machine mirror of the page just in case:

It’s good, it’s normal way of life, game is dying, after I announced quiting gaming addiction Activision shut down master server, its ok guys, shamanic magic, If something is died - something rising.

(Mustang) #39

Well this is a bit silly, a heads-up would have been nice, [insert your own opinion about Activision here].

There is no way SD would have let this happen had they known, if they don’t want to run the server, let SD run it.

I direct messaged @ATVIAssist on twitter. I’ll let you know if (big if) they answer. Nobody answered from the Demonware addresses, but hey they still may have read it.

(falloutdc) #41

Bummer… I have packetlogs for both pc and ps3 Version in case we need them. They shutdown wolfenstein without warning like 3? Years ago btw

(REA987) #42

@Xylon Any reply so far?

@falloutdc So you mean that Wolfenstein (2009)'s multiplayer has already been shut down 3 years ago, that they informed people just recently? Can you also post error message that you receive from PS3 version? It doesn’t need to be proper screen recording image, a photo taken by a phone would do.

(Xylon) #43

No reply yet

(opt_fr) #44

I’m not feeling surprised (about it) but yeah it’s really AKWARD, especially for regular etqw players. This IS lifecycle software and you’ll have to be get used to it [Like any of them[soft] does…].

This “SHUTDOWN” won’t prevent regulars to play dayly, nor will restore master login server up! So, don’t make cheese any more of it - FORGET about it. but!
ETQW HAS BECOME «FREE» ? praise taw and their avant-gardist admins ! They knew that would HAPPEN! [as it was… a scheduled shutdown, yeah]

Lets thanks? of blame? Activision about the situation. But yeah, we will stand up here. Like before. Like We did before! Lets
ETQW Rules!!!

Meantime, ATM the TAW community is bulding up an initiative to bring up etqw alive without master server, free for all, and so on. Let us being geting involved into it… So, long live to etqw !

All hope isn’t lost yet. Splash Damage posted another reply at its official Facebook page.

Hey there,

We’re still in conversations regarding this issue - don’t worry!

(falloutdc) #48

Checking connection (ps3)

Failed logging into Demonware service (ps3)

Yes wolfenstein (2009) Demonware access got shutdown without warning could be more then 3 years tough i need to check the date on my last screenshot.

(REA987) #49

@falloutdc Thanks a lot! I cannot see the name Demonware, is that in the background or written somewhere else?

(falloutdc) #50

I made packetlogs with wireshark

(REA987) #51

Ah, I understand. If it isn’t so long, you can share them here that @ressected also shared his client and server logs:

@ATVIAssist never answered the private message, but I also put in a support ticket via Activision’s website (selecting ‘COD: MW’ for game, because ETQW was not listed). Their reply was fairly generic:

Thank you for contacting us, and for being such a loyal fan of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

Online services for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars have been discontinued. Please check out this article for more information: https://support.activision.com/articles/legacy-activision-games
